October 25 worship

Lord, make us ready for our time of worship.  I pray that we would be drawn into your presence.

Every time a faithful servant serves
A brother that's in need
What happens at that moment is a miracle indeed
As they look to one another in an instant it is clear
Only Jesus is visible for they've both disappeared

May Jesus be the One who is seen.

  1. I have forgotten to check this blog for the last few weeks. I just read Laura's comments from Oct. 18. I agree that it's very important that the right songs are chosen if we want the church to enter fully into worship. They can't just be songs with deep meanings. They need to be songs with melodies that move the church. How do we properly select such songs? Surely I don't know. Here's an example of a song that guarentees the church will sing to God with all it's heart: Turn My Heart Oh Lord Like Rivers Of Waters...
How do we fill a service with such songs week in and week out?

  3. I was thinking of the Israelites going into battle, and God told them to put the worshippers in front. And God gave them victory! Can't you imagine them getting together and saying, "What was that order of songs that we used last week. That really went well. Let's do that order again!" That sounds like a recipe for failure!

I believe it is more like manna. It has to be fresh manna. Old manna spoils. Weekly dependence on God's Spirit is key.
